2013 NEWS Following the success that was "Teechers" by the Thalian group at the club one patron has kindly reviewed the final nights performance.
Review of Teechers performed by the Thalian group at the Alexandra yacht club on the 23rd March 2013
The Thalians presented John Godber’s play “Teechers” with their usual enthusiasm and competence. Making good use of the basic “red chair” set. There were no poor performances, with the teachers and student well characterized. “Mr. Nixon” as the idealistic new drama teacher, struggling with his apathetic colleagues, disruptive students and lack of funding, had just the right mix of seriousness and naivety. They handled the comedy well and the play was fun to watch. I particularly liked the ninjas. Whilst we all chuckled as we recognized the math’s bully, the horribly bouncy P E. mistress and the totally out of touch head teacher, the serious underlying messages of inequality in education and lost chances still came through, having as much relevance now as in the 80’s. Hope we see more of these players. Review by Patricia Roberts Please send any more reviws in and we will add these to the website 2012 NEWS
